๐Ÿ’œ Career Well-being: The danger of "I'll just figure it out"

Dear Thriving Introvert!

In this newsletter, I'll cover:

  • Overcoming the hidden trap of executive decision fatigue and overthinking your next move

There is a subtle, exhausting cycle that happens when you reach leadership: because you spend 40+ hours a week solving complex problems for everyone else, your brain stays in constant high-alert mode.

When you log off, that same analytical energy turns inward onto your own career.

You replay conversations in your head. You second-guess whether you should stay put, push for a promotion, or start looking elsewhere. You spend hours researching options late at night, only to end up right where you started: mentally exhausted and no closer to a clear decision.

Many high-achieving introverts mistake this constant mental loop for productivity. We tell ourselves, "If I just analyze this for a little longer, I'll find the perfect, risk-free path."

Letโ€™s be completely real: Overanalyzing isn't progressโ€”it's decision fatigue in disguise.

When you carry the weight of every career scenario entirely in your own head, you exhaust the exact mental clarity required to actually make a confident move.

๐Ÿ’ก THE QUIET WIN FOR TODAY

If you feel trapped in an endless loop of overthinking your next career step, give yourself permission to clear the cognitive clutter with one low-friction action step today:

  • Externalize your thoughts: Take 5 minutes to dump every career option, worry, and goal out of your head and onto a physical piece of paper. Don't format it, don't edit it, and don't try to solve it yet.
  • Name the core tension: Look at what you wrote and circle the one single question that is actually holding you back (e.g., "Am I ready for a VP role?" or "Do I need to leave my current company to get a raise?").

Why it matters for your well-being: Your energy is a finite asset. When you pull complex thoughts out of your head and put them on paper, you transform an overwhelming grey cloud into a concrete problem that can actually be solved.
