💜 Career Well-being: The silent prep work before a stealth job search

Dear Thriving Introvert!

In this newsletter, I'll cover:

  • How to quietly organize your strategic wins and intellectual property before launching a job search—without raising eyebrows at your current company.

When leaders decide it’s time for their next career step, many wait until they are actively interviewing to pull together their resume metrics, project data, and leadership highlights.

Trying to quantify your business impact under time pressure—or worse, after losing access to company dashboards—causes unnecessary stress and dilutes the strength of your achievements. Yet, suddenly spending hours exporting files or gathering data from cross-functional peers can trigger suspicion from your current boss.

A discreet transition requires proactive, low-friction record-keeping that blends seamlessly into your daily workflow.

💡 THE QUIET WIN FOR TODAY

Start building your confidential "Brag File" quietly behind the scenes with this 2-minute weekly habit:

  • Create a personal, off-network document: Set up a secure file on your personal device (never on your company laptop or server) to track your strategic metrics.
  • Log the "Unsung Wins": At the end of each week, jot down 1–2 bullet points highlighting enterprise scale. Don't just record completed tasks; capture numbers: revenue protected, processes streamlined, cross-functional headcount led, or percentage improvements in efficiency.
  • Save praise asynchronously: Whenever a stakeholder, VP, or peer emails praise for your leadership on a key deliverable, forward the text to your personal email or write down the key quote.

By capturing your impact in real time, you build a high-converting executive resume and interview portfolio without ever signaling to your team that you have one foot out the door.

Talk next Thursday,

Dear Thriving Introvert! In this newsletter, I'll cover: How introverted directors and managers can build strong industry credibility on LinkedIn without writing personal essays, posting daily, or filming video content. If you look at typical career advice online, self-proclaimed "personal branding experts" tell you to post content every morning, share deeply personal stories, and engage in loud self-promotion to get noticed by executive recruiters. For introverted leaders who value...

Dear Thriving Introvert! In this newsletter, I'll cover: How to be strategic with examples and why it matters in your job search "We need you to be more strategic." If you’ve ever received that exact feedback in a performance review, important meeting, or interview debrief, you know how frustrating it can be. It almost never comes with concrete instructions or specific examples of what that actually looks like in practice. You're left sitting at your desk wondering what, exactly, you are...

Dear Thriving Introvert! Personal note: As you may have noticed, you didn't get my newsletter last week. It was the first time in the last 5 years that I took a break, and I had a few reasons for that: My friend lost her 21-year-old daughter to pneumonia complications. My sister-in-law lost her mom suddenly to a rare form of cancer. My dog has been badly injured and needs me to carry her everywhere. In the same week, I attended two funerals for two extremely loving people. I had no emotional...
